During late 2008 we began development of imoFootball, the original imoSports implementation, in conjunction with two English amateur football leagues. Working closely with officials from these two respected organisations we started designing a system that would meet the need of football administrators at all levels of the game. We intended to develop a comprehensive tool that could vastly reduce the amount of paperwork and administration that a league has to undertake, and to improve the processes and tools available to perform the remaining tasks. Once this was done then the league committee could focus less on the repetitive tasks and more on making the best decisions for their league. This would mean that there was vastly improved information available to committee members, the member clubs and the general public about the league.

After several months of development we launched a trial of the system with these two leagues for the 2009 - 10 domestic football season. The leagues were initially focused on different goals, one on the registering of players and the other on the automatic generation and management of fixtures, but both were prepared to adapt to test the full system. During the season the system had received over two million page views and been used by 70 member clubs to register over 4000 players, had managed the transfer of over 250 players between member clubs and had handled thousands of fixtures and results.

The feedback from these trialists lead to the system being further refined and streamlined, and by the end of the season it had been finalised into the first commercially released version.

At the same time as refining the football administration version of imoSports, our development team began work to broaden the system to encompass a large number of other sports, both professional and amateur. This team continues to develop the system and test new features as they respond to the particular needs of each sport.

imoSports is a division of Athium Limited, a software company based at the University of Warwick Science Park in the United Kingdom.

At Athium we have been developing bespoke software applications and providing business and IT services tailored to meet our clients' needs since 2005. Our strength is translating individual business requirements into real world solutions.

One of the main challenges for organisations today is how to make best use of the technology available to improve and develop. To help meet this challenge, we have developed a range of services and products to enable our customers to understand their technology requirements and to acquire systems to address these needs.

The combination of our high level of technical expertise and understanding of the wider business context allows us to produce high quality technical solutions .

We are experts in capturing and translating our clients' requirements and collaborating with our clients to produce an all in one solution. Once the requirements have been captured, we implement a strong, though flexible, agreement allowing the customer to transfer their risk and agree a fixed price project. This approach, together with passionate customer service, allows us to deliver technology projects that also fit into business plans.

We have worked and are currently working on projects in the UK, Europe, United States and Australasia for both public and private sector organisations. Projects that we have delivered recently include the design and deployment of a complete internet and intranet web-based system, the development of business specific software tools and the design and management of a procurement process.

Athium are proud to say that we have been awarded the UK IT Association's Quality Mark.
